The location is El Esterito — and in a city shaped this narrowly along the water, location is most of the decision. The residential stretch north of downtown, still on the water but calmer. Good value, small guesthouses, easy taxi rides both ways. It is a hostel — dorms and usually a few private rooms, a shared kitchen, and the common area where most of the good trip advice in this city actually circulates. Getting around from here
Quieter and residential, on the water but away from the promenade crowd. Downtown is a walk of fifteen minutes or so, or five by taxi. Being slightly north puts you marginally closer to the beach road.

Can I walk to the Malecón and downtown?
